Plans to produce four million tonnes of green hydrogen per year in Mauritania revealed

GreenGo Energy has submitted plans to develop a 190TWh green energy park with capacity to produce four million tonnes of green hydrogen per year in Mauritania.

Under its application to the Ministry of Petroleum, Energy and Mines, the company’s ‘Megaton Moon’ project is planned to set up 60GW (190TWh) of hybrid wind and solar generation and 35GW of electrolysis to produce four mtpa of green hydrogen and further producing 18 mtpa of green ammonia.

According to GreenGo’s plans, over 70 million tonnes of desalinated water will be generated each year – more than three times what the facility will use – to support the development of a large-scale desert farming industry.
