In the heart of France, around 6km from Paris in a little but densely populated town called Levallois, lies the headquarters of an innovative independent automotive supplier that’s passionate about hydrogen mobility.
Plastic Omnium is an independent, family-owned automotive supplier created in 1946. Through its expertise, 24 R&D centres and 131 plants worldwide, the group designs and produces intelligent exterior (vehicle) body parts, clean energy storage systems and front-end modules for its 93 customers across in 26 countries. The company is clearly both a pioneer and a leader in its field and since 2000, Plastic Omnium has grown its revenue nearly six-fold – driven by a tight proximity to automakers, a robust automotive programme management expertise and of course, its excellence in manufacturing.
As with the wider transport industry, carbon dioxide (CO2) emission reduction has shaped the innovation and development strategy at Plastic Omnium for almost two decades now, with lightweight aerodynamic body parts, depollution solutions and, more recently, controlled fuel systems suitable for hybrid or plug-in hybrid vehicles all a focus for the company. It is these innovative products and solutions for cleaner and connected cars that has earned Plastic Omnium a world leadership position in its fields.
