Plug Power completes electrolyser installation at Amazon site in Colorado

Plug Power has completed the installation and commissioning of a 1MW proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyser at a US Amazon fulfilment centre.

Installed last month (December 2023), the technology based in Aurora, Colorado, will produce low carbon hydrogen for Amazon and fuel more than 225 hydrogen fuel cell-powered forklift trucks at the site, known as DEN8.

The hydrogen produced by the electrolyser will be compressed on site and stored in a gaseous hydrogen storage tank for use by the forklift trucks.
