Queensland Government to trial five hydrogen cars

The Queensland Government will trial five Hyundai Nexo fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) powered by home-grown hydrogen, in a first for the Australian state.

The three-year trial is expected to help underpin the development of Queensland’s domestic hydrogen industry.

The vehicles will be refuelled with hydrogen to be manufactured in the state by BOC.

“This trial will accelerate our journey towards establishing Queensland as a renewable energy superpower,” said Mick de Brenni, Minister for Energy, Renewables and Hydrogen.
