Real world action needed for hydrogen, says IEA’s David Turk

Real world action is what is needed for hydrogen right now, the International Energy Agency’s (IEA) David Turk said as he began his keynote speech at the World Hydrogen Fuels Summit earlier this month.

As Acting Deputy Executive Director and Head of the Strategic Initiatives Office, Turk addressed delegates via video link on behalf of IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol and the IEA.

“We are particularly happy and pleased with the subtitle of this summit ‘international collaboration for real world action’,” he said.“At the IEA we’re very much a real-world agency trying to help countries and companies around the world to make better energy choices, and so the subtitle is just perfect for our own participation and perfect for what we need for hydrogen right now: real world action.”

“Hydrogen is very squarely back on the energy agenda around the world. It’s quite striking to me the breadth and depth of interest in hydrogen, certainly from countries around the world, coming at it for all sorts of different reasons.”
