Renewables and Ecosystem Snap Summit 2023: How hydrogen can drive decarbonisation

From British Columbia to Pakistan, and across key sectors such as plastic, mobility, fuels and solar, H2 View’s Renewables and Ecosystem Snap Summit 2023 – sponsored by BC Hydro – illustrated the broad range of opportunities and challenges facing hydrogen’s deployment and ramp up.

The first session, The Power of Renewables, heard from Lester Dyck, Business Development Manager at BC Hydro; Kate O’Rorke, Marketing Communications Manager at Hydrogen Utopia International (HUI); and Naheed Memon, CEO of Oracle Power.

Dyck outlined the scale of British Columbia, and wide range of industrial and renewables opportunities available to BC Hydro, a fully integrated electric utility.

He said, “It’s a prime place to locate energy intensive and clean technology industries. I anticipate that in future, the clean technology sectors including hydrogen production and clean fuels will be added, and incrementally increase the large industrial customer base that we have in the province.”
