RWE and badenova to develop electrolysis plant and hydrogen pipeline on Upper Rhine

RWE and badenova have announced a project to construct a centre for the production, transport and distribution of green hydrogen on the Upper Rhine.

RWE will develop a 50MW electrolysis plant in Albbruck, Germany next to the RADAH run-of-river power station, capable of producing up to 8,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually.

badenova’s infrastructure subsidiary badenovaNETZE will create a hydrogen pipeline from Waldshut to Albbruck, intended to form the ‘backbone’ of future hydrogen supply along the High Rhine and ensure Bade-Württemberg will be connected to the European and hydrogen infrastructure.
