Scale-up in deployment of hydrogen projects required to meet MENA Net Zero targets

Only three hydrogen production projects in the MENA region have reached the construction stage despite optimistic government targets, according to MEED (Middle East Business Intelligence).

During the Middle East and Africa Hydrogen Projects 2024: Challenges and Opportunities webinar, MEED’s Energy and Technologies Editor, Jennifer Aguinaldo, lead attendees through the key drivers, hydrogen policies and strategies, and challenges of the developments in the region.

Projects reaching the final investment decision (FID) phase in MENA (Middle East and North Africa) is a key issue for the advancement of a hydrogen economy, with only three reaching the construction stage and one in the biding stage, with several others in the pre-FEED or FEED phase.
