SFC Energy and JM extend partnership in hydrogen fuel cells

SFC Energy and Johnson Matthey (JM) have extended their hydrogen partnership with the goal of accelerating joint value creation in the hydrogen fuel cell market.

Under the partnership, JM will develop and supply Proton Exchange Membranes (PEM) for SFC Energy’s H2-PEM stack, while SFC will expand its range of higher-power hydrogen fuel cells for stationary markets, with more than 60,000 fuel cells worldwide.

The two companies first inked a deal to further develop the membrane electrode assembly (MEA) in 2021 and now signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to ensure PEM components will be delivered under a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) and supplied by JM for at least five years.
