From a start-up to the international hybrid fuel cell power solutions manufacturer it is today, SFC Energy is celebrating its 20th birthday.
Starting out as Smart Fuel Cell in 2000, the company has since sold more than 45,000 fuel cells worldwide to date.
In total, these units clock up more than 100 million operating hours, and the trend is rising dynamically.
Acquisitions in the Netherlands and Canada have increased the company’s expertise in power electronics, power management and product integration, creating market access in North America.
Moreover, since the company’s founding, fuel cells by SFC Energy have produced more than 6.5 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of environmentally friendly energy.
Compared to diesel generators used for off-grid applications, SFC solutions have so far saved more than 3,600 tonnes of climate-damaging CO2, corresponding to about 3,600 transatlantic flights from Munich to New York or more than 2,400 one-week trips on a cruise ship.
“In the past 20 years not only our SFC Energy has grown, but also the awareness for sustainable energy sources in business and society,” said Dr. Peter Podesser, CEO of SFC Energy.
“We are happy and proud to have shaped this growth process with our products and will continue to make our contribution to a sustainable world with the same passion.”
