Siemens Energy launches green hydrogen project in China

Siemens Energy and Beijing Green Hydrogen Technology Development, a subsidiary of China Power International Development, have joined forces to develop a hydrogen production system for a hydrogen fuelling station located in Yanqing District, Beijing.

Host of a major sporting event scheduled for 2022, the Yanqing District’s green hydrogen production system will help guarantee the hydrogen supply for public transport both during and after the event.

The announcement is the result of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed last year between Siemens and State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC), the ultimate controlling shareholder of China Power.

Through the MoU, the two companies agreed to collaborate on green hydrogen development and utilisation, something that created a close partnership which resulted in today’s announcement.
