Spanish green hydrogen materials company launched with global electrolyser plans

A new Spanish green hydrogen company has today (November 23) been launched offering materials designed to improve electrolyser efficiency by reducing energy consumption by up to 30%.

Dubbed Matteco, the company, launched at European Hydrogen Week, is the new project of Zubi Labs – owned by Zubi Group – after it span off from the Universitat de València (UV), following 10 years of work by researchers.

Matteco has said its “next-generation” materials are designed to significantly improve the efficiency of electrolysers by reducing energy consumption by up to 30%. Also, the company says it they can increase production by allowing operation at higher current densities with longer lifetimes, without using PGMs.
