Testing to begin on First Hydrogen’s fuel cell van

Automotive and energy company, First Hydrogen, have announced today (May 16) that its first hydrogen-powered light commercial vehicles (LCV) is set to begin operational testing next month.

First Hydrogen’s two MAN eTGE vans, equipped with Ballard Power Systems’ fuel cells, are currently being built by AVL Powertrain UK. The two vehicles are expected to be road legal by September 2022, where the company hopes major fleet operators will trial them.

The company claims the vehicles will have over 500km (310 miles) of range, based on the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP), which they compared against the 115km (71 mile) range of a base battery electric vehicle under the same conditions.
