For the development of its Innovation Centre in Narvik, Norway, hydrogen-powered maritime solutions provider, TECO 2030 has revealed it has signed an agreement with thyssenkrupp Automation Engineering for the supply of a PEM fuel cell production line.
Under the signed Memorandum of Understanding, thyssenkrupp will deliver all the equipment required to complete the first full production line at the Narvik facility, including stack assembling, module assembly, and test equipment.
Coming as the first of several planned production lines at TECO 2030’s innovation Centre, the facility is planned to be able to produce 1.2GW of fuel cells annually by 2030.
“I believe this MoU with thyssenkrupp Automation Engineering represents the beginning of a long-term and strong partnership,” said Tore Enger, Group CEO of TECO 2030, “We are looking forward to moving on with the fuel cell production project in Narvik and are excited to team up with renowned supplier like thyssenkrupp Automation Engineering.”
Michael Menneking, CEO of thyssenkrupp Automation Engineering, commented, “We are really looking forward to work with TECO 2030 in realising zero emission shipping and heavy industry, and their goal of establishing a complete PEM fuel cell production line in Narvik.”
In July (2022) TECO 2030 announced it was set to lead a Norwegian consortium to build the ‘world’s first’ hydrogen-powered high-speed vessel.
