Topsoe unveil plans for ‘world’s largest’ electrolyser plant with a potential 5GW capacity

Danish chemical processing company, Topsoe has announced today (May 23), its intention to construct the ‘world’s largest’ electrolyser plant with an initial 500MW capacity, which can be scaled to 5GW, for Power-to-X solutions.

The plant, which is set to be constructed in Herning, Denmark, will be operational by 2024, with its capacity scalable to 5GW per year, contributing to the European wide push towards renewable hydrogen use.

H2 View understands the proposed 23,000m2 plant will produce solid oxide electrolyser cells (SOEC) electrolysers with construction is planned to commence in the second half of this year.
