UK wastewater-to-hydrogen project to go ahead with Element 2 to offtake for refuelling

Plans to produce “fuel cell grade” hydrogen using wastewater in Cambridgeshire, UK, will go ahead this summer (2023).

UK hydrogen infrastructure firm Element 2 has today (May 31) revealed it will purchase hydrogen produced by a new electrolyser at Anglian Water’s Milton Road water recycling site in Cambridge and supply it to hydrogen-powered vehicles.

With plans for 100% runtime to commence from July 2023, the companies anticipate that 91kg of hydrogen will be generated each day, with both planning to quantify the environmental benefits of the trial.
