Unigel announces $120m plans for Brazil’s ‘first’ green hydrogen plant

One of Latin America’s largest chemical companies, Unigel, has today (July 26) announced plans to build the first green hydrogen plant in Brazil.

With an initial investment of $120m, Unigel says the plant should be operational by the end of 2023, initially acquiring three electrolysers from the German firm, thyssenkrupp nucera, with a combined capacity of 60MW.

Set to located in the Camaçari Industrial Complex, the plant in its first phase is planned to have an initial production capacity of 10,000 tonnes of green hydrogen and 60,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually.
