US hydrogen research set for $750m DOE funding boost

The US Department of Energy (DOE) has allocated $750m to advance research of electrolysis technology, reduce hydrogen and fuel cell costs and support Hydrogen Hubs.

The funding marks the first phase of the $1.5bn (€1.4bn) Bipartisan Infrastructure Law which is committed to developing electrolysis technologies and improving manufacturing and recycling capabilities.

The acceleration of the hydrogen industry in the US will be essential in reaching President Biden’s goal of a 100% clean electrical grid in 2035 and Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050.
