Work commences at North America’s ‘largest’ green hydrogen plant

Work has commenced on a $290m facility that will produce 45 metric tonnes of green liquid hydrogen daily in Genesee County, New York – and it’s believed to be the largest of its kind in North America.

Plug Power is behind the site which will also host a 450MW electricity substation to support hydrogen production to offer customers green hydrogen which is cost competitive with diesel.

Specifically, the plant will be located at the Western New York Science, Technology and Advanced Manufacturing Park located in the Town of Alabama, making the New York-based fuel cell specialist the first tenant at the manufacturing park.

The site is believed the be North America’s largest green hydrogen facility.
