A new hydrogen powered barge is set to be developed for bulk liquid chemical transportation by INOVYN and VT Group in Belgium, the companies revealed today (Nov 24).
INOVYN has said that this will be “Europe’s first” bulk liquid chemical barge that is powered by hydrogen as is part of a strategy to displace fossil fuel reliance with green alternatives.

As part of the development, VT Group will retrofit an existing barge with hydrogen technology, replace gasoil combustion technology, and reduce annual CO2 emissions by an estimated 1,000 tonnes.
