Yara Clean Ammonia joins Hystar’s HyPilot project in Norway

Norwegian PEM electrolyser innovator, Hystar has today (September 28) announced that fertiliser giant, Yara Clean Ammonia has joined the HyPilot project, which will see the first in-field test of Hystar’s 1MW containerised electrolyser.

Set to be installed at the Kårstø Gas Processing Plant in Rogaland, Norwary, operated by Gassco, the electrolyser will run for 10,000 hours, offering performance data from various operating regimes to verify its long-term commercial operation.

Yara has joined to test the Hystar technology for the future production of green ammonia. It is hoped the pilot project will demonstrate how the electrolysers can be utilised to reduce the cost of green hydrogen for green ammonia production at an industrial scale.
