ZeroAvia has been awarded $3.25m by the California Energy Commission (CEC) to develop mobile liquid hydrogen (LH2) refuelling trucks.
With manufacturing set to take place at Livermore Municipal Airport, the LH2 refuelling trucks will benefit heavy-duty applications, such as in the aviation and maritime sectors.
The 10,000-litre mobile refueller will boast sufficient flow rates in a similar time as traditional jet fuel refills, and will improve on existing efficiency in LH2 applications, including reducing hydrogen boil-off to less than 0.1% per day.
The funding from CEC comes from the Gas R&D Programme administered by the organisation and authorised by the California Public Utilities Commission.
