bp’s HyGreen hydrogen project receives HAR1 shortlisting

Following the UK Government’s announced shortlist of hydrogen projects set to receive funding, bp has revealed its HyGreen Teesside project has been invited.

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has progressed the project to the next stage of negotiations in its first-round funding for green hydrogen projects, the Hydrogen Allocation Round 1 (HAR1).

The project is targeting an initial 80Mw of green hydrogen production and is expected to grow up to 500MW by 2030 – 5% of the Governments 10GW hydrogen target – and is anticipated to begin operations in 2026.
