Centrica subsidiary joins Irish subsea hydrogen storage project

Centrica’s Irish subsidiary Bord Gáis Energy has joined ESB and dCarbonX’s subsurface green hydrogen storage project off the coast of Ireland.

The Kestrel project, focused on the redevelopment of decommissioned gas reservoirs at Kinsale Head gas field, is hoped to support Ireland’s recently published national hydrogen strategy, which saw long-duration storage as essential for the price resilience of hydrogen.
