Current UK hydrogen workforce represents 5% of what is needed for 2030, report finds

The current UK hydrogen sector workforce represents just 5% of what is needed for 2030, a new report by Cogent Skills has found.

With UK Government analysis suggesting the country’s hydrogen sector could grow to support over 12,000 jobs by 2030 and 100,000 by 2050, the report says the current workforce totals around 600.

The A greenprint on skills for the low-carbon industries report found an “extremely challenging labour market,” which could affect the UK’s hydrogen production capabilities and threaten Net Zero targets.
