Green hydrogen will be a key second-phase focus for EnBW’s energy operations in Stade, it confirmed today.
EnBW will import 3bcm of LNG per year via the Hanseatic Energy Hub in Stade – but in future plans to substitute natural gas with green hydrogen.
EnBW will have the option to move to ammonia as a hydrogen-based energy source at a later date. This possibility is open to all Hanseatic Energy Hub customers with a long-term contract of more than 10 years.
The hub aims to be ready from 2026 with a planned regasification capacity of around 12bcm per year.
