FFI to acquire Nikola’s Phoenix Hydrogen Hub project

Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) is set to acquire Nikola Corporation’s Phoenix Hydrogen Hub (PHH) project in the US.

The acquisition will see FFI bring the capital and resources required to develop the project planned for Buckeye, Arizona, while the two will work towards a hydrogen supply agreement to support Nikola’s Class-8 hydrogen trucks.

Under Nikola’s previous plans, electrolysers would produce up to 150 tonnes of renewable hydrogen per day, on a 920-acre site which would also support the deployment of Nikola’s vehicles and hydrogen refuelling stations.
