Hunter Power Project to acquire Mitsubishi Power gas turbines that will run on 30% hydrogen

The highly anticipated Hunter Power Project in Australia is set to utilise two Mitsubishi Power gas turbines capable of using use 30% hydrogen for co-firing with operation on 100% expected in the future.

Mitsubishi has stated that the M701F gas turbines will be used to produce 660MW of power once commercial operations have started in 2023.

Situated 120km north of Sydney, the project, being led by Snowy Hydro, will help reduce the carbon footprint of power generation in the region with the project set to cater for the scheduled shutdown of a large-scale coal-fired power plant.
