Hydrogen-powered buses take to the streets of Las Vegas

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) on Thursday (August 17) launched the first of the two buses at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas’ (UNLV) Black Fire Innovation.

Said to be a first of its kind in Nevada, RTC has said the buses are the “first” hydrogen fuel cell electric buses to be operational state-wide.

Funded by a $3.8m low or no emission grant from the US Department of Transportation, the two 40-foot New Flyer buses comprises Ballard fuel cell technology and compressed hydrogen supplied by Air Products.
