Hydrogen-powered train enters revenue service in Québec, Canada

In what is said to be a first in Canada and the Americas, Alstom’s hydrogen-powered Coradia iLint train took 100 passengers across Québec on a 90km trip.

The journey, which took place earlier this month (June 2023), saw the train travel from Québec City to Baie-Saint-Paul, through the heart of the UNESCO-listed Charlevoix Biosphere Reseve along the St. Lawrence River.

Utilising fuel cells supplied by Accelera by Cummins, the train ran on green hydrogen produced by Harnois Énergies at its Quebec City site.
