Liquid hydrogen carrier visits Singapore as port explores the fuel’s use

The world’s “first” bulk liquid hydrogen carrier, the Suiso Frontier, has been welcomed into the Port of Singapore as the port authority explores hydrogen’s potential.

Operated by Shell under the Hydrogen Energy Supply-chain Technology Research Association (HySTRA) project, funded by the Japanese Government, the Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) designed and manufactured vessel berthed at the Shell Energy and Chemicals Park.

With Singaporean Government ministers, as well as the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) Chief Executive, Teo Eng Dih, hosted onboard, the visitors were briefed on the design and safety features of the ship.
