NTPC begins hydrogen fuel cell bus and fuelling trials in India

Indian power utility NTPC has announced it will establish a hydrogen fuelling station and solar plant in Leh along with related hydrogen fuel cell buses.

The Indian city’s first hydrogen-powered bus was put into operation on August 17, 2023, as part of a three-month process of field trials, signifying India’s ‘first ever’ deployment of hydrogen buses on public roads.

The green hydrogen mobility project will be co-located with a dedicated 1.7MW solar plant to provide renewable power.
