Plug Power named preferred electrolyser supplier for 550MW Fortescue project

Plug Power has been named as the preferred supplier of 550MW of electrolysers for Fortescue’s Gibson Island Project in Queensland, Australia.

The proposed 550MW electrolyser supply contract is subject to final negations and approvals as well as Fortescue’s final investment decision (FID) on the Gibson Island Project in Brisbane.

With an FID expected by the end of December this year (2023), once operational, the plant is anticipated to produce around 385,000 tonnes of green ammonia per year from the green hydrogen production onsite through the electrolysis facility.
