Redcar residents call for independent vote on NGN’s hydrogen for heating trial

Residents of Redcar, North Yorkshire, UK, are calling for an independent vote on whether plans for a hydrogen for heating trial by Northern Gas Networks should be carried out.

It follows news that Cadent’s proposed Whitby hydrogen trial would not be taken forward by the UK Government.

Cadent confirmed that the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero would not select its plans to switch Whitby’s gas network to hydrogen after Minister for Energy Efficiency and Green Finance. Lord Callanan, in a Tweet said, “it’s clear there is no strong local support,” for the project.
