In parallel to warnings that the UK could lose its lead in hydrogen, a new report by the UK Climate Change Committee (CCC) has said the government’s efforts to scale up climate action are “worryingly slow.”
Among an array of criticisms, two key concerns in the report released on Wednesday (June 28) were the lack of urgency and policy priorities from UK government.
The report criticises the government’s backing of new oil and coal developments, airport expansion plans and slow progress on heat pumps, just two years after it hosted COP26 in Glasgow in 2021, when bold statements were made on its aim to reach Net Zero.
