Vortex estimates Newfoundland salt caverns could store 800,000 tonnes of hydrogen

Canadian-based Vortex Energy estimates more than 60 salt caverns in Newfoundland, Canada, could store up to 800,000 tonnes of hydrogen.

After announcing the identification of two large salt structures last month (June 2023), Vortex contracted RESPEC Consulting to generate preliminary cavern layouts and perform high-level thermodynamic calculations to estimate the storage capacity of the two structures.
