Webinar: Coatings, catalysts and components key to hydrogen scale up

Industry experts shone the spotlight on coatings, catalysts and components in today’s H2 View webinar, discussing the importance of materials efficiency, scaling, product technicalities and corporate targets.

Dr. David Hodgson, Managing Director at webinar sponsor TFP Hydrogen Products, and Alejandro Barnett, CTO at Hystar, set the scene by talking to H2 View’s Rob Cockerill and Tom Dee, around the table at TFP Hydrogen’s Cornwall facility. Viewers were also given a sneak peek of recent video content shot on site.

“Hydrogen is such an important part of the decarbonisation story for Net Zero,” said Hodgson at the start, underlining the critical role coatings and catalysts play in the broader process – where hydrogen production is expected to reach 168 million tonnes by 2030.

He held up a porous square piece of titanium, demonstrating how TFP ensures electrical resistances are as low as they can be, and the surface coating takes off the insulating oxide layer, which increases the energy efficiency for hydrogen production and protects against long-term corrosion.
