Why Hyzon Motors pulled out of the Chinese commercial truck market

Hyzon Motor has fully validated its trucks in China after over 80 trucks were delivered without the ability to run on hydrogen, sparking an independent investigation into the company’s governance and compliance, H2 View has learned.

Coming as a two-part exclusive interview with H2 View, due to be published next Wednesday (October 11), Hyzon’s CEO, Parker Meeks, said, “At the time, we didn’t have the controls and processes in China to monitor and ensure… that those trucks were fully operational in all the ways they needed to be, including fully validated on hydrogen before they were delivered.”

In August 2022, Hyzon confirmed it would not issue its Q2 2022 finances by its deadline, stating it had been made aware of “revenue recognition issues in China” and other governance and compliance issues, seeing it launch an independent investigation.
