A hydrogen-fuelled future for Denham, Australia today (7th May) became a step closer to reality with works commencing at its A$9.3m ($7.2m) community hydrogen power plant that is set to power 100 residential homes and decarbonise the electricity supply chain.
Believed to be the first time in Australia that a renewable hydrogen powered remote microgrid will be used in the community, the major development will feature a 704-kilowatt (kW) solar farm, 348kW hydrogen electrolyser and a 100kW fuel cell – all of which will be provided by Horizon Power.

Hydrogen Industry Minister, Alannah MacTiernan, was on site today to turn the first sod on the project. If all goes to plan, the project should be commissioned and operational by early 2022.
